DR ENTRY UPDATE

Passport Rules Adjusted for Canadians Visiting DR

Canadian tourists visiting the Dominican Republic are getting a temporary exemption to the country’s previous rule stating that passports must be valid for six months following their date of entry.

A new rule instituted 01JUN, 2024 by the Dominican Republic government states that citizens of Canada, the U.S., the European Union, England, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador who enter the Dominican Republic exclusively for tourist purposes can do so “with their valid and in force passports,” provided that they “remain in force during their stay” in the DR.

“This exceptional measure was implemented by the Dominican authorities as of June 1, 2024, and remains in force until Nov. 30, 2024,” the government website declares.
