Iconic architectural and archeological site Chichén Itzá in Yucatán, Mexico, has been closed for over eight days as up to 10,000 protestors have blocked road access.
As reported by Mexico News Daily, the demonstrators include indigenous activists, locals and vendors who are calling for Chichén Itzá director Marco Antonio Santos Ramírez to step down. According to reports, Ramírez limits the amount of artisan stalls allowed on the site and prohibits vendors from speaking in Mayan, among issues.
