Tour Co’s Report High Interest in Bucket List Trips as Travellers Seek Dream Vacations Before Crowds Return

As international travel news becomes more optimistic as a result of vaccines and reopenings, tour companies have reported an interest in summer and fall trips to iconic destinations from tourists looking to get the holiday of their dreams - minus the usual crowds. “The clouds are parting and there’s a ton of demand for once-in-a-lifetime trips,” said Warren Webster, chief executive of the travel company Atlas Obscura. He also said the company was booking more tours for later this summer than they did pre-pandemic. “It’s a kind of a celebration,” said Jim Moses, the president of the travel company Road Scholar, adding that there is “tons of interest in the classics, in particular Italy, U.K. and Croatia.” When the EU announced it would start allowing vaccinated travelers from the U.S.and elsewhere this summer, website traffic to Intrepid Travel’s Italy trip-information page rose 44 percent the next day from American travelers, according to the company. However, travellers are being warned that entry requirements for a variety of countries can always change, and those still willing to travel should expect higher fees.
