U.S. Travel Association Opposes Vaccine Passports for Domestic Flights

The U.S. Travel Association (USTA) is opposing vaccine passports for domestic flights following comments reportedly made by White House chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci in support of vaccinated flights. "U.S. Travel has long maintained that there should be no mandatory vaccination requirement for domestic travel. Such a policy would have an unfair, negative impact on families with young children who are not yet eligible to get the vaccine," the trade group's executive vice president of public affairs and policy Tori Emerson Barnes said on 13SEP. According to political news site The Hill, Fauci endorsed a vaccination requirement for all plane travel during an interview with the Daily Skimm newsletter. "I would support that, if you want to get on a plane and travel with other people that you should be vaccinated," Fauci said, according to The Hill. Fauci’s comments come after recently proposed legislation that would require airline and Amtrak passengers to provide proof of vaccine or a negative COVID-19 test.
